CULTURE
Culture is the collective expression of beliefs, values, customs and behaviors shared by a group of people. It encompasses everything from language and traditions to art and social norms. For individuals with disabilities, feeling disconnected from their cultural identity can be a common experience. This disconnection can occur due to various factors such as societal barriers, lack of representation, or feeling misunderstood within their community. However, reconnecting with culture can be a deeply enriching experience. It often involves embracing one’s heritage, celebrating diversity, and finding a sense of belonging within supportive communities. Through initiatives like Cultural Compass, individuals with disabilities can explore, celebrate, and reconnect with their cultural roots, fostering a sense of pride and belonging.
